How We Vet
Every product on this shelf went through the same review before it got here. Here's what that looks like.
Certifications first. When a product carries third-party certification — MADE SAFE, EWG Verified, OEKO-TEX, or equivalent — that's our strongest signal. Independent verification matters more than brand claims.
Ingredients when there's no cert. Not every trustworthy product is certified, and not every certified product is trustworthy. For uncertified products, we go line by line through the ingredient list and cross-reference against our banned list before anything gets approved.
Hard disqualifiers — no exceptions. The following are automatically rejected, regardless of brand reputation or marketing claims: PFAS (linked to hormone disruption and long-term health risks), synthetic fragrances (a catch-all term that can mask hundreds of undisclosed chemicals), parabens, SLS and SLES, PEGs, and formaldehyde.
Plastic where it counts most. Plastic leaches chemicals into food and water — particularly under heat or repeated use. That's why we don't stock plastic in water and beverage containers, food storage, or anything used to prepare food. These are the categories where the contact is closest and most frequent.
